We had some visitors to our class. We were very surprised how tiny the tadpoles were.

We have been learning about the different animal groups. We made our own lizards. Do you like them?

Focus Book

  • Imagine if a different animal came to tea. How would they behave?
  • How would your family react if a tiger wanted to come to tea?
  • The author uses the words 'big', 'furry' and 'stripy' to describe the tiger. Can you think of any more adjectives?
  • Imagine that you are Sophie telling your daddy about the tiger. How will you explain what happened?
  • Sophie's supper was 'lovely'. Can you think of synonyms for this word?
  • What do you think happened to the tiger next? Where did he go after visiting Sophie's house?

Maths 16.4.18

This week, we will been learning about multiplication. We will be learning that multiplication is the same as repeated addition and can be shown as an array.

Can you write the number sentences for the arrays below?

Can you make your own arrays using objects at home?

Dear Parents and Carers,

This half term our topic is ‘Paws, claws and whiskers’.  We will be learning about:

  • Pets
  • Zoo animals
  • Big cats
  • Farm animals
  • Caring for animals
  • Working on a farm
  • Different animal groups

We will be doing lots of art work linked to this topic and are going to create an art gallery of our work.

We will be reading the story ‘The tiger that came to tea’, by Judith Kerr and looking at paintings by Franz Marc.

Also we are visiting Marsh farm as part of our topic.

Ideas for home learning:

  • Draw a picture of your favourite animal
  • Research an animal
  • Make a collage of an animal
  • Paint a picture of an animal
  • Visit a zoo or farm
  • Write about your pet
  • Take pictures of your pets to bring into school to talk about

Have a lovely half term.
