Girls' Cup Quarter Final

logoantialiasedThe school's girls' football team this week played their Thurrock Schools' Cup quarter final match against Woodside and, after a replay, overcame their opponents to reach the semi-finals.

The original match was played away at Woodside on Wednesday 11th January 2012 and the girls put in a fantastic performance in which they limited their opponent's chances while creating plenty of chances themselves. However, a killer instinct in front of goal was missing and the match ended 0-0. With light fading fast it was decided that the match would be replayed.

Player of the match was Nicole for the influence she had on the team when coming on as a second half substitute.

The replay then took place on Friday 13th January 2012 and the girls continued where they left off and again limited their opponents chances while creating opportunities for themselves. However, it again looked like the goal they needed would elude them. Thankfully, that all changed midway through the second half when Nicole found her killer instinct and scored the game's only, and winning, goal!!

Player of the match was Amber for the hard work she put in throughout the match in closing down her opponents and winning the ball back.

The result was thoroughly deserved over the hour of football that was played and the girls will now face a very tough semi-final match against Kenningtons later on this term.

Well done girls, you really have done your school proud!!
