School Travel Health Check
The road safety department at the local authority have used the school's census data to carry out a school travel health check.
This health check aims to provide information for the school and local authority about:
- how pupils currently travel to school and from where;
- the impact our modes of travel to school impact on the environment;
- how the school compares with other schools in the authority.
Some of the key findings on the school's report are:
- The school has a RED rating for the number of pupils within an 800m walking threshold who currently travel to school by car. Based on the census data, there were 63 pupils (28.1%) who live within an 800m radius of the school but travel to school by car.
- The school has a GREEN rating for its CO2 emissions per pupil with CO2 emissions of 48.5kg which compares well with the authority average of 59.6kg.
- The percentage of children walking to school has slightly increased since last year.
- The children have burnt off 3,013,546 calories walking to school during the past year.
